Parking Charge enforcement: how it works
ReadyPark automates the full Parking Charge lifecycle, from detection through to debt recovery. You don't need to manage any part of this process yourself.
Detection
ANPR cameras read the plates of every vehicle entering and leaving your site. The platform checks each plate against active sessions and permitted vehicle lists. Any vehicle that doesn't match is flagged.
Grace period
You can configure a grace period for your site, for example 10 minutes before a Parking Charge is issued. This prevents notices being sent to vehicles that have just arrived and are in the process of paying.
Parking Charge issuance
Once the grace period expires and no valid session is found, a Parking Charge is automatically generated. Parking Charges are issued by our third-party enforcement partner on your behalf. The notice is sent by post to the registered keeper of the vehicle using DVLA data. No manual action is required from you.
Debt recovery
ReadyPark manages the full debt recovery process. This includes:
- Initial Parking Charge notice
- Reminder notices if payment isn't made
- Escalation to a debt recovery agency if required
- Appeals handling: you'll be notified of any appeals and can review the case
Parking Charge revenue
How Parking Charge revenue is shared depends on your plan. Your analytics dashboard shows Parking Charge activity, outstanding debt, and collected amounts in real time.
Signage requirements
To issue legally enforceable Parking Charges, your site must display the correct signage. ReadyPark will advise on signage requirements during onboarding and can supply compliant signs as part of your setup.
