Handling Parking Charge appeals
When a driver disputes a Parking Charge, ReadyPark manages the appeals process on your behalf. You're kept informed throughout and have the final say on whether to uphold or cancel a notice.
How appeals work
When a driver submits an appeal, ReadyPark's enforcement team reviews the ANPR data, session records, and any evidence provided by the driver. You'll be notified of the appeal and presented with a recommendation, either to uphold the Parking Charge or cancel it.
Common appeal grounds
The most common grounds for a successful appeal are:
- The vehicle was paying but the session wasn't recorded correctly
- The driver was a permit holder whose plate wasn't registered on the system
- A genuine error (e.g. wrong plate entered at the time of payment)
- The signage on site wasn't clear enough to inform the driver of the terms
Your role in appeals
For most routine appeals, ReadyPark's team will handle the review and make a recommendation. You can approve or override the recommendation via your dashboard. For appeals that escalate to an independent adjudicator (via POPLA or the IAS), ReadyPark will prepare the case on your behalf.
Reducing appeals
The most effective way to reduce the number of appeals is to ensure your site has clear, compliant signage. We'll advise on this during onboarding.
